Starting To Weave
After much design development I am ready to get weaving again! I have hand dyed my whole warp, made from wool and silk crepe, and set myself the challenge of working bigger than I have ever done before. This is because I am designing a collection of samples for throws and wanted to make sure that my samples reflected their intended purpose. Here are some sections of my weave so far.
Initial Drawings
Here are some of my drawings that I have been working on from my photos taken in The Manchester Museum. Ive been trying to add collage and different ways of manipulating my paint to make my drawings have more depth and texture, from which I will develop weave samples from.
Starting Design Unit Two
As a starting point for my next unit I decided that although I wanted to stick to a similar theme as before, I needed a different take on it to help develop my work further. With this in mind I have decided that I want to research into bones, fossils, stone carvings and items that are unearthed in archeology. It is also this Idea of unearthing and layers that I would like to research into, to see if I can get some more inspiration for textures in my work. Below are some photos I have taken on a recent visit to The Manchester Museum, now I'm ready to get drawing!
