Design One Pin Up

So happy to have handed all my work in! Here is how I presented my work for the pin up.

Warp Three Samples

In these samples I used a warp rib structure combined with elastomeric yarns. Im really pleased with how three dimensional these pieces look after they have been steamed.

Warp Two Samples

For these samples I used a hand dyed wool ground cloth and a silk extra warp. At the start of weaving these pieces I was unsure of how they would turn out as I was not totally happy with the shades of blue that I dyed. However as a first time dying my whole warp I am actually really happy with these samples, and think that I have used a good combination of weft and structure to knock the colour back a bit. I also want to try a warp in a similar colour scheme to the peach, beige and grey sections that can be seen in the weft of these samples.

Warp One Samples

Here are my three favourite samples from my first warp. I have tried to create texture in them by using a Seersucker effect, combined with different textured yarns and weave structures. Although the more neutral colour pallet is my personal favourite, I like the contrast that the blue and orange give.

Background of Current Project

From the start of my final year I have been drawing and developing weave design ideas based upon rocks, particularly the textures, colours and formations that can be seen within them.  Here are some of my key drawings that I have developed most of my work from.
